December, 2001
Dear Otay Water District Resident The holidays give us time to reflect on the events of the past year and the opportunity to share with our friends and neighbors the spirit of the season. It has been my pleasure to serves as President of the Otay Water District Board of Directors this year. I would like to share with you some of the positive changes that have enabled the District to continue to provide you with the highest quality of water possible at reasonable rates. This year we hired Bob Griego as General Manager. He as made sound management decisions that have streamlined the District’s administration and cut overhead costs. Also this year, the Otay Water District was able to rebate $8 million to our customers, the highest rebate in its history! As you know, access to water in the future is a serious concern for all water districts in San Diego County. The Otay Water District has had a recycling and water conservation program in place for several years. The parks, golf courses and roadside areas that you enjoy are irrigated with recycled water. The District is currently in negotiations with the City of San Diego for an extended recycled water agreement that will add to our continued efforts to conserve this valuable resource. And from my family to yours, we wish you a very joyous holiday season. Feliz Navidad, Happy Holidays.
