To date, the Bonilla Family Foundation has awarded more than $100,000 in student scholarships and grants to community agencies.

In 2004 the Foundation will continue to focus its giving in the South Bay by providing scholarships as well as providing support to programs and services that benefit youth and their families.

2003 Community Grants

In 2003 the Bonilla Family Foundation provided $39,400 in grants to the following agencies:

Able-Disabled Advocacy - $ Smart Money Management Program provides financial literacy training to youth with disabilities. This discussion-based course provides hands-on exercises to teach financial concepts. By involving employers as guest speakers, enrollees also have opportunities for employment, internships and adult mentoring.

Boys & Girls Clubs of National City - "Banking on our Future" is an on-line money management course designed for three age groups that features several components such as budgeting, savings and credit management.

Border View YMCA - The Literacy Program utilizes volunteer tutors to provide one-on-one assistance to at-risk youth.

Montgomery High School - Montgomery High's Administration of Justice Program received funding to send youth to the National Youth Leadership Forum on Law. The forum helps students prepare for postseconday study and for professional careers in the justice system.

Parent Institute for Quality Education - The Foundation will fund a nine-week program at two South Bay schools designed to build strong parental involvement in their child's educational process.

South Bay Community Services - Support for several youth programs including KidzBiz, Teen Center, and Critical Hours after-school program.

YMCA Youth & Family Services - Kinship Support Services provides services that strengthen relative caregivers, and their children, with the objective of ensuring the children are kept safe, secure, and connected with their families.
