ACHIEVEMENTS

When Jaime Bonilla was first elected to the Otay Water Board in 2000, he knew there were some very serious problems. He was cautioned and advised not to make big promises that he might not be able to keep. The media and his opponents claimed his promises were too big and could never be kept.

Here is the record of Director Bonilla's promises and his accomplishments:

Lower the Rates:
Director Bonilla fought for and won the battle to lower the water rates for everyone in the Otay Water District. The new lower rates have NOT affected the District's ability to deliver the Highest Quality water in San Diego.


Stop the Waste:
Director Bonilla lead the effort to streamline the District's administration and staffing. The District cut management jobs, and the employees gained the protection of their first ever long-term contract.


Rebate the Surplus to the Ratepayers:
Mr. Bonilla and the other Director's led the way in rebating as much money as possible to the ratepayers. In short order rebate checks went out, and another promise was kept!
